The Journey to Art With A Purpose

I am so lucky to do what I love! Sitting here, in the Winter Garden Theatre witnessing the work of so many talented people, all worthy of deep admiration. Professionals of their craft and beyond it all having the greatest human attitude. I am blessed! I feel lucky!!!! Lucky not because things have come easy because that is not the case. From the very beginning of my journey I have worked hard and with passion in what I love. I have fought from the heart! ;-) And little by little the path has lead me to where I am today. THANK YOU UNIVERSE FOR IT! Lucky because I LEARN!!!! A great thing about the journey to art with a purpose is each day striving to keep my awareness as fragile and vulnerable as when I started. And now, I am even hungrier than before as there is soooo much to learn from every department, Lighting, Projections, Sound, Music, Orchestration All of it inspires and teaches me something. En este momento me encuentro entre dos mundos, el de producción creativa con trabajos nuevos en Salgado Productions y en el camino que me ha dado alas para llegar hasta aquí, el de mi propia carrera artística. Tengo la dicha de ser parte de una nueva producción original en Rocky Broadway   En sólo un dia estaremos por primera vez como compañía todos en el teatro Winter Garden de Broadway haciendo 3 semanas intensas de ensayo técnico para este nuevo musical. On the day of the Puerto Rican day parade, what better way to celebrate than the Tony Awards? This is the best gift for those who love theater and dream of more stories told through the magic of LIVE THEATRE. What a great CELEBRATION, of artists. Artists, "You lift our culture with your artistry" as Judith Light said tonight.   The first winner of the night is Cindy Fernandez as she is taking our 2 tickets to Monsters University for her reply to my blog . As we are only 2 days away from the selection of the best Broadway scripts, scores, directors, actors, musicals and plays, something came to my mind.... Luis Salgado at The Tony's After Party with In The Heights What if there was a Tony award for the production that the audience feels made art with the most purpose? A production capable of not sacrificing its commercial potential on the great white way while never losing the integrity of its art and its purpose. I have had the honor of being part of some wonderful shows on and off Broadway but nothing like the process of creating the musical In the Heights. There was such a unique team of young, hungry artists that were balancing the act of creating art and at the same time were sharing their heart and their passion.
