At the Winter Garden Theater...
I am so lucky to do what I love!
Sitting here, in the Winter Garden Theatre witnessing the work of so many talented people, all worthy of deep admiration. Professionals of their craft and beyond it all having the greatest human attitude. I am blessed! I feel lucky!!!! Lucky not because things have come easy because that is not the case. From the very beginning of my journey I have worked hard and with passion in what I love. I have fought from the heart! ;-) And little by little the path has lead me to where I am today. THANK YOU UNIVERSE FOR IT! Lucky because I LEARN!!!!
A great thing about the journey to art with a purpose is each day striving to keep my awareness as fragile and vulnerable as when I started. And now, I am even hungrier than before as there is soooo much to learn from every department, Lighting, Projections, Sound, Music, Orchestration All of it inspires and teaches me something.
Learning from great artists like Alex Timbers doing his work and with such care. Witnessing a great Stage Management team work efficiently and again with CARE to each detail of the process.
Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens are nothing but pure inspiration with their history of great work. What I see is 2 kids simply doing something they LOVE WITH ALL THEIR HEARTS!
Today we had our sitzprobe for ROCKY. An 18 piece orchestra merged with the full cast in the presence of a great creative team. So many memories came to mind.
First the sitzprobe of The Mambo Kings when I heard that INCREDIBLE music for the first time. I will always be grateful for that experience! Then, The In The Heights sitzprobe; That was a family experience with a room made up of mainly artists from my culture. We would all go crazy with each Latino chord that came to life and, of course, with every core note to the arch of such a lovely story.
All of this makes me want to be better, all of this inspires new dreams and all of this forms my journey. I am still just a baby, with doubts, with questions, with a thirst and a path to walk. This path is what will continue to shape me as an individual and the art of many new pieces.
I can't wait to get my hands into the table work for the new projects I am now bound to do... but I will take it one day at a time. For now, in the moment I want nothing more than to keep absorbing all the great things from this unique experience.
ROCKY Broadway will begin preview performances this coming week (FEB 11, 2014) and I highly encourage all of you to get tickets. It will be an experience to remember, for sure.
