What is under the sea? Qué hay debajo del mar?

It’s been a month here in front of the ocean taking some time to feed my soul. Nature is so magical, so healing, so powerful. She re-constructs, cleans, and rejuvenates in such a magical way…..
Now I return to the NYC… To work, to speak, to write from another point of view, to be in my home and from there take new action. “Before I go, I take in the ocean and the sand.  I try to find out how I can keep that with me, and integrate it in my NYC home. I must BE Present, I must BE FULLY; I must be complete and open to give the best of me. And if I fail, forget or doubt the memory of the ocean and the peace I felt here, I will be find it again in any ounce of water or human life around me and it will manifest again…

I look into the sea. While I seek guidance, I realize that under the sea there are SO MANY LAYERS, and such DEPTH that we may never understand.  This water that now surrounds me -as my body enters it and I allow its temperature to change my own- it is also me, and I am IT…
I too am LAYERS, I too am Nature, and I too am WATER.
“Be like water my friend”, the great Bruce Lee said. A quote that inspires me to flow with the present! I tell this to my son when he is scared of the waves and I’m telling myself now.. ‘be like water’… I WANT TO FLOW... And yet, to me right now… here, in this moment, it’s important to acknowledge that we are not just the water, but also the sand, rocks, fish, the coral. We are nature, and in our selfish attempts to attain/achieve/grasp at glory we are nothing more than a passing element of life itself. We are All, and we are Nothing…  and that thought gives me peace as much as it gives me something to work on and for…

I close my eyes and listen. I put my head under the water. The sound is different. So much life… and it hits me… We must become the water, we must study the unknown, we must learn the pending lessons.  The word is screaming for us to learn, to pay attention, to look from a new perspective. Today we are called to evolve, to embrace, accept,  deny, raise our voice, advocate, and take action. The waves push me forward and back, and on that amazing journey, much like the rolling/crashing of waves, we must utilize this moment to ACT.  Go beyond fear and into hope, love, light and all the possible good there is around us all. In our depth, in our own human layers.

I celebrate the words of someone as wonderful and mystical as Mohammed Ali when he said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.”   The truth of the matter is that we stand in one single unifying voice...because no matter the color of our skin, our language, or our background, we are one and the same. However, it was this same inspiring leader who once said,  “blue birds fly with blue birds, red birds want to be with red birds—tell me I’m wrong—pigeons want to be with pigeons…They don’t have intelligence and yet they stay together, we should have more intelligence than them.  Buzzards are with buzzards, blue birds with blue birds.  They all are birds, but they’ve got different cultures.” He is not wrong.  We humans celebrate our cultures and individuality…  “The eagles hang out in the mountains, the buzzards like to fly around the desert, the blue birds fly around the trees and grass.” he continued… and I get it… In this interview he says he would rather be with someone that looks like him, rather than go through hell for someone that doesn’t. But today the world is different, and we have united in so many ways.  New cultures and worlds have formed from our unions, and we can still further expand on that as humans. “LET US ALL UNITE '' said Chaplin the one time he used his voice to move us into awareness and action.

As I often like to say, we all poop.  Even if you are a king, a president, a dictator, a director, the president of a corporation, a millionaire. Whether you are rich or poor…You poop. You are a human.  This pandemic has proven that we are just as easily affected by the events of the world.
I’m just a little pawn who loves to do art and theatre. But I’m also no different than a king, a policeman, a black man, or a jewish person.
Me… un gestor del arte. Una persona que busca hacer lo que ama dia y noche, porque he comprendido que solo la acción de hacer lo que amo me llena y me hace feliz, pero… I am water. I’m sand. I’m part of the fucking clouds, the moon, the sun, and nature. This is the most important thing.
Today more than ever Black Lives Matter. They are water, sand, and clouds. Just like I am, just like YOU ARE... And that… in this moment in time should not be taken away by anyone. Of course, “all lives matter” But those who are saying that today clearly are not listening.
My mind is crashing like the waves on the shore, there are so many layers to what is important, I go down in the water once again, I come back, I swim a lap…. where should I go now? What actions should I take now?

I think of Obama:

"I believe we can keep the promise of our founders, the idea that if you're willing to work hard, it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from or what you look like or where you love. It doesn't matter whether you're black or white or Hispanic or Asian or Native American or young or old or rich or poor, able, disabled, gay or straight, you can make it here in America if you're willing to try.
I believe we can seize this future together because we are not as divided as our politics suggests. We're not as cynical as the pundits believe. We are greater than the sum of our individual ambitions, and we remain more than a collection of red states and blue states. We are and forever will be the United States of America.”

Shit….
What happened?????

On a simpler scale… I think of my home. My own little beach and what's under our sea….
My wife matters, and under the sea of her body, under the sea of her essence, there are values I must respect. My son matters… and Under the sea of the children who are asking for daddy’s attention there are values that we must embrace. Our world matters… under the sea of the animals around us there is a circle of life I must respect, honor, admire, and support.  There are cycles in our daily lives that require our attention.
We must stand for the good of ALL humans. And we can’t truly do that until we stand for the ones that are not having a fair chance at being equally valued… We must listen. We must elevate. We must discuss. We must have conversations in which we are actually allowing each other to speak so that we can grow. So that we can evolve into all that’s underneath the water. It’s magic… Magic that we may never see if we don’t open up to the possibility. WOW, We never see it…
                                                                we might never see it…
we are too fucking busy… looking nowhere… Can we see? Can we listen? Embrace? Forgive? Accept? Love?

I invite you, as I invite myself, to see what is underneath the water of everyone around you/us. At this moment, it would be easier to be on edge and blame each other for this or that...we are all sensitive and raw from everything going on… but if we just listen… or care to listen… If we don’t rush to judgment. It would be easier for my friend to try to cross the street as she looks right and left without the concern of being judged or accused. Because today she might be judged by her physical action (looking left and right), it might look like an attack to someone that now sees her looking left and right to be a way of discriminating perhaps. Each one of us is scared. Each one of us seeks love. Each of us has something under our own “Sea of Troubles”... we wonder what’s under the sea?
jajaja…. hahaha
             here I am… Rambling… Asking…

Another blog with no answers… Another moment of questions…
And yet, here I am.

There are two sides of the coin… what’s on top and what’s underneath the sea!?
