Back in the game of DIRECTING!
Week one…What a fantastic journey it has been.
I feel like the investment in HUMAN POTENTIAL is worth EVERYTHING IN ART. I might be wrong, I might fail at times when trying new ideas but I am not afraid to do so. I can’t afford to be afraid and that’s the beauty of it.
Art has given me EVERYTHING I AM.
I really mean that.
It’s my best professor, it’s my everyday college and it is in many ways my religion. I have said this many times and each day I find myself closer and closer to what is relevant to me... the making of ART WITH A PURPOSE. And NO, this is not just a slogan for Salgado Productions, it REALLY IS a way of making ART.
I have mixed two specific philosophies that have taken over my blood and every cell of my body.
DARING to Go Beyond in every opportunity. To explore for MYSELF and for the story I am bound to tell with a group of ARTISTS and for the place I am at TODAY. Exploring, not in comparison to anything or anyone but solely for the process and the journey… In making this my mantra I am challenging growth each step of the way, I evolve with my cast and my team and therefore so does the story. This brings me to the second idea, the making of Art that is filled with PURPOSE.
Today I write to you saying, it is WORTH it and it might be the best investment ever made.
In 5 days the cast have built the layers for their characters and have grown as a company, where there wasn't a company before. We have explored the possibilities and truth of each character, finding what works and what doesn’t. I was so surprised when, after 5 simple days of PLAYING AND EXPLORING without any agenda for the result we did a full stumble through of the show. Allowing us to already see where we can evolve with set, costumes, props, changes, arc’s and more.
How can I explain it? It’s simply fascinating and it’s ALL I WANT TO DO until the end of my life!
I can't wait to go back to rehearsals and continue to grow!
