Commitment to your craft and elements that set up GOOD work are keys to success.

Right now, I am exploring how to bring that sense of purpose to very "commercial" work.

It think some people might see our idea of making Art with a Purpose as something very “profound” as if we are claiming to only make Art as social work. The truth is, that it comes with the territory as I am a Social advocate and founded the non-profit organization, R.Evolución Latina that has been successful in fulfilling it's mission for six years now.

Salgado Productions is a business and we must do work that can employ people and fill other needs than the ones we see with RL. After all “some of my work must pay for the trees” the talented,  Graciella Daniel once said to me. This idea reinforces our goal of developing a healthy process  for a very commercial piece/venue.

Salgado Productions is now in the midst of creating a casino show, The Latin Quarter in collaboration with a wonderful producer and his team. The one-hour show will represent a Latin theme inside the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

We have taken each step very serious from running a one day marathon audition, seeking very specific talent to perform the show, to the selection of my team.

The selection and rehearsal process has been important in another way as this is the first project that I won't be there to open. Due to the growth of Salgado Productions I will be running another project in Cali Colombia as the Latin Quarter show will have it’s premier.

The key is having the right people in your team and giving them the tools to fulfill and honor your creative vision and philosophy. Even if we are the "entertainment" in a casino show we are still building a sense of purpose in the creative team and the space to represent the best qualities of each individual's Art.

I love this. It’s about not aiming only at the end result but ALWAYS at a healthy process that brings results and that’s what my company, my “business” is all about. Building strong relationships/Process inside the rehearsal room that will flourish with powerful performances when we hit the stage.

All of the dancers have been working so hard in rehearsal. It is clear in the room that the passion and the desire it's present and that ticklish sensation of doing what you love is felt in everyone’s gut.

By the end of the day happiness surrounds us and we all leave the room in sweaty clothes with a smile on our faces, and the desire for a new day to come so that we can do it again.

That day is here, lets go make more of that addicting thing we call ART WITH A PURPOSE!
