Our first 2 months of the new year in R.Evolucion Latina

Spring is HERE!

So much has happened during our first 2 months of the new year! We are so grateful for the opportunity to connect, inspire, and work with our community of artists ready to go beyond. Check out some of our stories!

We are honored to announce Lilian Andrea De León as the 2023 Doreen Montalvo ‘Do It Anyway’ Scholarship recipient.

Lillian is a Mexican American hailing from Texas who is currently pursuing a career in the arts. Alongside her journey of creating art, Lillian shared with us her passion for creating a more inclusive and diverse theater community.

Our R.Evolución Latina family was inspired by her determination and desire to make this dream a reality.

Out of the several applicants, there were two finalists that stood out by showcasing Doreen’s talents, storytelling, and passion for the arts. We are proud to honor two additional artists who shared their artistry and truly honored Doreen with their work! Please join us in congratulating Rebekkah Vega-Romero and Celeste Lanuza our 2023 ‘Do It Anyway’ Award Honorees!

We want to thank our Selection Committee Luis Salgado, Rosie Lani Fiedelman, Jaime Lozano, and Jenn Gambatase for their time and for sharing their hearts and dedication to celebrating Doreen.

Art Rebuilds

Thanks to Broadway Cares we received a $50,000 donation to support families in Puerto Rico that were affected by Hurricane Fiona.

86 people were selected to receive a $500 grant to help them cover basic needs while they rebuild and recover from this tropical storm. The response from the Puerto Rican families and individuals was overwhelming and the gratitude was endless.

We just completed our 16th Annual Beyond Workshop Series program. We provided 2 weeks of intensive performing arts training to a group of 24 artists including 6 international artists visiting us from Spain, Colombia, and Peru.

We partnered with The Raul Julia Training Unit and we were extremely excited to be back at The National Dance Institute in Harlem.

RL Theater Trips

We had the opportunity to take 30 artists from our RL community to see Leopoldstadt on Broadway.

We are grateful to be in partnership with the Harriet Tubman Foundation which helps us provide these opportunities to the communities we serve. Stay tuned for more opportunities to see theater together.
