BaLaNcE ...
Today’s topic is simply BALANCE, at least that's what's in my head at the moment.
Life as a whole needs balance and so does Art, Producing, Creating, Living.
The stage needs balance, a dancer needs balance to hold to his/her pirouettes, the perfect meal needs BALANCE!
As I start focusing more and more on Salgado Productions and the quest of developing new work I feel a huge need to find the proper Balance in my life in order to give the best to every project. As an individual artist/performer, I have a constant demand to be in training of every area of my career; singing, dancing, acting, choreographing, directing. Everything requires time, focus, dedication and determination. In the ongoing practice of these thing, you at times forget other basic needs that make everything else better. This week I faced this reality, when taking a ballet class, having not taken ballet for over 5 years and my body showed it and oh boy, I felt like a mess. These realizations are the most humbling experiences an artist could ever ask for. This process of balance, going back to training basic ballet makes me think and wonder about the new things I am doing with Directing and Producing.
Have I lost you yet?
Just like ballet is the foundation for dance, I ask my self, what are the basic tools I need to always keep sharp when producing a show? What are the things I should always revisit when trying to touch the hearts and the minds of our audiences with storytelling? When an audience is in their seats, ready and open to receive "the experience of art" we are responsible for their journey. We invite and navigate them into a world that, we hope, we make them believe. How do we balance a script, a stage, a performance or know when to purposely create unbalance in order to achieve an arch and keep the audience engaged from beginning to end.
As I delve into the business responsibilities of this new company I must work with the marketing team, manage social media, consult my writers, advice and build a productive plan for the script and music to continue developing as well as the overall logistics of productions; running production meetings for the Cecilia Bracamonte concert, that will take place in the fall, defining logistics for In The Heights Brazil and starting the proposals for Fame, the musical in Peru. How do we balance all of this? How do you put the same love and passion into the details of every project? That my friends is the eternal question we ask ourselves?
And yet we always find a BALANCE somehow...
Perhaps it really is true that art is a great mirror of life reflecting the shifting and adjusting we do when faced with daily unbalancing events in our quest to find balance life. As we work for our daily balance we will share the process, step by step so Stay Tuned to learn more.

ReplyDeleteIs truth my dear artist, the balance is all, is in the midst of life and death, day and night, of what you want to do and what to do... but i think that there are no laws to achieve that balance. It is a natural element, is something that is done by intuition. A painter who does not know what the exact proportion of each color as the need to achieve a specific tone, however he does ... so does the art, so life works. Then just follow your intuition to get the balance you're looking for.
ReplyDeletePS: excuse my English is not very good, but i´m trying.
