Salgado Productions artists Luis Salgado, Anna Guerra and Jesse Sanchez join the Jimmy Awards for a third year to direct, choreograph and create a show-stopping number with the  Featured  Group with 70 students on this special night.   The Jimmy Awards®  are a national celebration of outstanding student achievement, recognizing individual artistry in vocal, dance, and acting performance and elevating the importance of theatre arts education in schools. The Jimmy Awards are presented by The Broadway League Foundation.   Photo Flash:  Buena Vista Social Club: From Havana to Broadway – A Special R.Evolución Latina Panel @ The Museum of Broadway On Sunday, April 27, R.Evolución Latina partnered with The Museum of Broadway to host a very special panel, A Buena Vista Social Club Celebration, honoring the incredible journey of Buena Vista Social Club from its Cuban roots to Broadway’s vibrant stage. Moderated by Luis Salgado and Gabriela García, the panel featured talented members of the Broadway production: Angélica Beliard, Carlos E. González, Ilda Mason, Da’Von Moody, Leonardo Reyna, and co-producer Ioana Alfonso. The event welcomed an audience who gathered to hear stories about the creative process, the cultural significance of the music, and the honor of representing Cuban heritage on Broadway. “This experience has been transformative for me as an artist and as a human being, " shared Leonardo Reyna.   A Night of Celebration and Hope: Latine Stories on Broadway Tonight, I have the honor of attending the opening night of  Real Women Have Curves  on Broadway — a landmark moment that fills me with pride, excitement, and hope. This moment is made even more meaningful knowing that my mentor,  Sergio Trujillo , is leading the charge as both director and choreographer, showing the world the excellence of Latine leadership at the highest level. For the first time ever,  two Latine-themed shows  are running on Broadway at the same time:  Real Women Have Curves and  Buena Vista Social Club . This is monumental. To understand the magnitude of this achievement, we have to look back at the journey Latine stories have taken on Broadway stages: A Brief History of Latine-Themed Broadway Shows West Side Story  (1957): Opened the door by depicting Puerto Rican characters and blending Latin rhythms into musical theatre.   EMERGING YOUNG ARTIST AWARDS International director, choreographer, and educator, Luis Salgado of Salgado Productions. On April 28, three high school students will experience the joy of live theatre in a whole new way – as playwrights. Christopher Cesarano, of Tarrytown, New York; Mia Plugh, of Mamaroneck, New York; and Sydney Healey of Rye, New York; were named winners of The Palace Theatre’s 2025 Ernie DiMattia Emerging Young Artist Awards for their writing of an original one-act play. All three will witness their voices and visions come to life with a staged reading by professional actors at The Palace in Stamford.     Cesarano was awarded $500 for his play, “A Thousand Missed Messages;” Plugh, a junior at Rye Neck High School for “Ithaca Unspoken;” and Healey of Rye for her play “Breathing Room.” Plugh and Healey also both received $500 for their winning plays.   Christopher Cesarano The Palace has brought in award-winning international director, choreographer ...
