Barba: Brazilian Body Percussion Musical

BARBA  is a new Brazilian musical that explores the true story of Fernando Barba who discovers he has an extraordinary gift for creating music using his own body as an instrument. A music virtuoso, Barba transformed people’s lives, founding the Brazilian body percussion ensemble Barbatuques. His dedication to teaching this innovative, accessible form of body music is threatened when he is given a medical diagnosis that puts his mission in jeopardy. What happens when the thing most precious to you is taken away?  Follow the Journey of BARBA! Excited to share with you some photos from our showcase production of Barba.  We have  SOLD OUT  houses, but we are offering  a  STANDBY LINE   for ticke ts before the start of every show.  The line will open 30 minutes before the show. New Brazilian Musical  Barba  Sells Out All Performances; Standby Line Will Be Offered Before Curtain "N ew Brazilian musical  Barba  has sold out all performances for their run Off-Broadway at the Pregones Theater. The work exploring body percussion performance is set to play the Bronx venue through February 25. A standby line will be available 30 minutes prior to curtain for each performance. All tickets are priced at $20. Barba  tells the true story of Fernando Barba, who discovered he has an extraordinary gift for creating music using his own body as an instrument. The musical, born from collaboration with selected participants from the Beyond Workshop Series 2024, features a cast predominantly comprised of Latine artists from Argentina, Colombia, Spain, and other Latin American nations.  Luis Salgado  directs and choreographs."   "This is a beautifully cast show full of authentic Latin performers. They have all had input into the choreography for this production, which  Luis Salgado  headed up. The director has amped up the dancing from the original Broadway version and made the final journey after Gloria’s accident far more spiritual and compelling. I got chills watching as each ensemble member became a fan writing a letter to  Gloria Estefan  for her to get better because it felt so honest to see these Latin performers paying tribute to who we routinely credit as the “Queen of Latin Pop.” The show itself is a love letter to Gloria, Emilio, and their fans. So Luis gets it, and this show is one of the best incarnations of ON YOUR FEET theater fans will ever get to see.
