A Directors Note... We get one more chance!

ART! What a fantastic word, but truly what does it mean?

For me, MAKING ART with a sense of PURPOSE, is searching for the meaning of ART in each step. It is doing work that elevates my capacity as a HUMAN, above all else. Zuccotti Park, and the entire project, has tapped into that element of HUMANITY. Starting with the fantastic team of writers that have trusted me. Adding to that, my creative team (whom I have come to adore after many projects together), the new ARTISTS (who have jumped aboard), and the cast who give their EVERYTHING IN THE PROCESS, AS THEY CONTINUE TO GROW IN EACH AND EVERY STEP.

To all of them and to many more like those who inspired me to be in this path I dedicate this nomination. I am on a quest to do what I LOVE TO DO for the rest of my life. So it means a lot to be valued as a director as there is where my path will lead. I KNOW IT! I can feel it.

Festivals like this are a GIFT to an artist’s developmental process. The writers get to see their work realized on stage for the first time. Directors and creative teams get to exercise vision. Actors evolve as performers and share their gifts with you. All of this with teamwork, the element of LOVE, and the technique needed to make it come to life, under very limited circumstances.

What you see in our show is nothing but a labor of love: a developmental process in which we invested innumerable hours in adapting, work-shopping and discovering the potential of this piece. I deeply THANK the writers for allowing me to share my vision of their work and trusting all of us in Salgado Productions.

Yes, I've been nominated as BEST DIRECTOR for Zuccotti Park, and the show has been selected for the final rounds of Venus/Adonis 2015 festival after running to full houses on each performance. Now we get to do it one more time and this time for audiences and judges and the truth is NOTHING CHANGES. WE SIMPLY DO OUR WORK. We continue to be committed to the process and not the result.

Today is about sharing these first steps with you, and getting your feedback in order to improve as we move forward. Today is also about bringing the awareness of our role and responsibility to society and to being an American citizen... and beyond that, a Citizen of the world. We all are responsible to make the world we live in a better one, and to stand for what is RIGHT! ART CAN HELP US GET THERE, It's A GREAT TOOL!

So, come join us... OCCUPY with US!
